Overview — Grenada Citizenship by Investment

Grenada's Citizenship by Investment Programme was established under the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Act and has operated since 2013. It has earned a distinctive reputation in the investment migration space for one specific reason: Grenada is the only Caribbean country with a treaty investor (E-2) visa arrangement with the United States.

This means a Grenadian passport holder can apply for a US E-2 visa — which allows the holder to live and work in the United States through a qualifying business investment. For UAE-based entrepreneurs and investors who want US market access without the lengthy EB-5 green card process, this is a unique and compelling pathway.

Beyond the US angle, the Grenadian passport provides visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 147 countries, including the United Kingdom, the entire Schengen Area, China, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Processing takes 4–6 months and there is no requirement to visit Grenada at any stage.

Who qualifies

  • Applicants aged 18 or older with no serious criminal convictions
  • Ability to make the qualifying investment — fund contribution or approved real estate
  • Clear source of funds — clean, documented investment capital
  • No history of visa refusal from countries with which Grenada has visa-free access
  • Spouse, children under 30 (if in full-time education), parents, grandparents, and unmarried siblings may be included

Frequently asked questions

How does the Grenada passport help with US access?
Grenada has a bilateral investment treaty with the United States that qualifies Grenadian nationals to apply for an E-2 Treaty Investor Visa. This visa allows you to live and work in the US if you make a substantial investment in a US business. It is renewable indefinitely and can include your spouse and children. It is not the same as a green card — it does not automatically lead to permanent residency — but it provides long-term US presence and work authorisation for active investors.
Do I need to visit Grenada?
No. The entire Grenada CBI process can be completed without visiting the island. Documents are certified and submitted remotely. If you choose the real estate route, you will receive title documents without a site visit — though you are of course welcome to visit your investment.
Can my parents be included in the application?
Yes. Grenada is one of the most family-inclusive Caribbean programmes. Eligible dependants include your spouse, children under 30 (if financially dependent or in full-time education), dependent parents, grandparents, and unmarried siblings of either the main applicant or their spouse.
Is the citizenship for life?
Yes. Grenada citizenship is conferred for life and passes to your children. There is no renewal requirement and no need to maintain any investment after the required holding period.
What is the difference between the NTF and real estate routes?
The NTF contribution is a non-refundable payment — you receive citizenship in exchange for a direct contribution to a government development fund. The real estate route involves purchasing a property in an approved resort development; the capital is invested in a tangible asset that you may sell after five years. The real estate route costs more initially but has potential resale value.
