Overview — St. Kitts & Nevis Citizenship

St. Kitts and Nevis introduced the first citizenship by investment programme in the world in 1984. More than four decades of uninterrupted operation have given the programme a depth of government experience, international recognition, and institutional trust that newer programmes simply cannot match.

The St. Kitts passport ranks among the strongest in the Caribbean, providing visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 157 countries — including the United Kingdom, the Schengen Area, and Singapore. The Sustainable Island State Contribution (SISC) pathway allows for accelerated processing in as few as 45 days under the Accelerated Application Process (AAP), which is available to a limited number of applicants annually.

St. Kitts and Nevis imposes no income tax on foreign-sourced income, making it attractive for investors who manage international earnings. Dual citizenship is permitted — you retain your existing nationality throughout.

Frequently asked questions

What makes St. Kitts & Nevis different from other Caribbean programmes?
It is the oldest and most institutionally mature CBI programme in the world. The government has 40+ years of programme management experience, making it the most internationally recognised and respected Caribbean passport. Several countries that have since tightened visa requirements for newer Caribbean passports continue to honour St. Kitts & Nevis passports — a practical consequence of its long track record.
What is the Accelerated Application Process (AAP)?
The AAP allows approved applicants to receive a citizenship decision within 45 days, provided the application is complete and compelling. The AAP is subject to an additional government fee and is available to a limited number of applicants each year. It is typically used by clients with urgent travel, business, or family requirements.
Is there a residency requirement?
No. St. Kitts & Nevis citizenship by investment has no residency requirement. You are not required to visit the islands before, during, or after the application process. Citizenship is granted and maintained without any presence obligation.
How long must I hold the investment?
The SISC contribution has no holding period — it is a non-refundable donation. If you choose the real estate route, the property must be held for a minimum of seven years before it can be sold.
